UA SCIENCE -- The Professional Master's Degree Program

The Program and its Features

In today's global economic climate, science graduates need skills and credentials that place them above and beyond the crowd. In fact, more than ever, corporations, government laboratories and agencies, non-profits, and other industrial sectors are demanding that their science-educated employees also command various business-related skills.

That's where we come in.

We educate students who have a drive to succeed in careers that combine science, business, and industry. We specifically and strategically prepare you for an exciting and triumphant career as:

  • a scientist in industry, or

  • a science-trained professional practicing marketing, technology transfer, business development, public policy, intellectual property, or many other subjects in science-based enterprises.

Purpose

The purpose of the Professional Master's Degree Program is to educate students to:

  1. work in interdisciplinary teams on complex problems involving rapidly changing science and technology,

  2. gain proficiency in computational techniques,

  3. effectively communicate their scientific mission at all levels, and

  4. understand business and legal issues associated with their scientific projects.

Themes

To accomplish this, the Program weaves together science and industry in almost every aspect, in an effort to develop a professional view of science in industry and the connection between science and business as they relate to the bottom line of an organization or company. As we create and offer curriculum, we incorporate the themes of:

  • Flexibility

  • Access

  • Information

  • Connections

  • Professionalism
